Final report of the fair Aqua-therm Praha 2011

Aqua-therm presented innovations in the area of energy savings

The biggest Czech event in the area of energy savings and a major event for all professionals from the field of technical building equipment – once again that is how the majority of exhibitors rated this year's 18th-annual trade fair Aqua-therm Prague. In spite of unfavorable prospects facing the economy, Aqua-therm Prague confirmed its privileged position among Czech trade fairs with a similar focus.

Visiting the trade fair influences almost 80% of visitors
in their decisions on what to buy

In the course of the five days of the trade fair, 30,011 visitors passed through the gates of the PVA Expo Letňany exhibition grounds. 60% of them were experts and professionals from the field of technical building equipment, and the rest were laypeople who came to the trade fair to see innovations and new technologies in the area of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, measurement, regulation, sanitation and ecological equipment.

A survey of visitors shows that nearly 60% of them are people who make or participate in decisions on purchasing and investments, just under 20% come more than once in the course of the trade fair, and 92% are planning to return to Aqua-therm Prague next year. Presenting exhibits this year were 260 firms from 13 countries. And according to answers to a questionnaire for visitors, participation is definitely worthwhile for companies, because visiting the trade fair influences the decisions of 78% of the visitors in their decisions on which product to buy. Meanwhile, 20% are planning to acquire a product costing more than CZK 50,000, and 16% intend to invest more than CZK 20,000.

 



According to the results of a survey questionnaire, 70% of people visiting the trade fair come because they can see products from various companies at one place, examine them in detail and get well-researched information directly from the trained workers at the exhibits.

 

Aqua-therm is a unique opportunity to get good information

Above all, the trade fair is a place for visitors for encounters; more than half of them are attracted by the opportunity to see products from various companies all at one place and to get information directly from trained workers for the exhibited brands.

For this reason, the auxiliary programme held at this year’s fair again in parallel in three halls of the exhibition venue was once again very popular with the public. The cornerstone was, as in past years, the technical conference TZB 2011 under the expert patronage of the Society of Environmental Engineering. At the invitation of its chairman, Prof. Karel Kabele, arriving at the conference was Prof. Klaus Sommer, who is an expert and the head of the technical building equipment department at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences in Germany. In a segment on houses with almost zero energy use, there was discussion of the topic of “micro-generation for residential buildings”. There was great interest among visitors, and not only of experts, in the seminar concerning systems for accumulation of heat for reducing buildings’ energy use, intelligent houses, accumulation of electrical or thermal energy, or economical use of solar energy.

The Czech Heat Pump Association informed small construction companies about progress and innovations in that area, while the company E.ON gave specific examples of the current status of its cooperation with the carmaker Mercedes-Benz towards developing electric cars, and it provided plenty of practical advice for anyone wanting to build or renovate, offering a day of lectures from the technical server tzb-info.cz. An all-day seminar with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade dealt with energy management for cities and towns, and the Czech Association for Cooling and Air Conditioning Technology held an all-day series of seminars at Aqua-therm for its members.



The trade fair is an opportunity for firms to creatively attract customers' attention to their products. At the stand of the company Rosenberg, customers had the opportunity of having their picture taken with Marylin Monroe, at PRE they could win attractive prizes by tossing light bulbs into a basket, at the Ivar stand they could enjoy looking at artworks, look over a Tatra racecar, meet a stuffed walking boiler or have their picture taken with a bug from outer space.

 

Technical building equipment is a field that never sleeps

Today the area of saving heat, gas and water and of efforts to build new equipment for saving or producing energy is a sector that is undergoing rapid development, and this trade fair is a great opportunity for smaller manufacturers to introduce their innovations to the general public and potential business partners. A big help towards exhibitors' successful marketing is the competition at the trade fair for gold medals awarded each year by a jury composed of leading Czech experts.

From among the 35 innovations entered in the competition this year, the Gold Medal of the trade fair was awarded to LWZ 304/404 SOL integrated air/water heat pump from the company Stiebel Eltron and designs for new heating systems and the HW HESCOnet modeling of simulations of operation statuses of systems from the Pilsen company SYSTHERM. Another nine exhibits won honorable mention.



The expert jury was very strict in awarding prizes for the best exhibits at the trade fair, and it awarded only two gold medals.

ENBRA a.s. Heating Gallery – a building where all available heat sources for family houses and small buildings are installed, Training and Information Centre for Customers. This special source of information is the only one of its kind in the Czech Republic. The jury has called this special project the most progressive presentation at the Aqua-therm trade fair within the context of the exhibits of the Czech Federation of Technical Contractors for the Building Industry.

A big attraction at the Auto Alternative section was a special taxi for visitors to the trade fair, so they could get picked up from the metro station and ride to the exhibition grounds free of charge on an electric scooter. At the trade fair, it was also possible to try out electric cars and bikes.

 




The company Ziehl-Abegg won this year's prize from the trade fair organizers for the most attractive exhibit.
